I WANT ....Ummmhh....JESUS

DEVOTION

We will look at the word of God from the book of John 1:38-50.

We start off with Jesus asking, in verse 38, a crucial question everyone who wants something is asked one time or the other - what do
you seek? Most of the time we come to Jesus and He asks that question, we reply with answers like finances, health, all good things etc then if that's all we seek, why do we still come for more when we already have it; why do we still seek happiness when we have all we "need"?

In 2 Corinthians 1:20, Paul says that all the promises of God are in Him.. Jesus. So what are we seeking really? We are seeking Jesus. We think we need this and that but in real sense.... it's Jesus. Jesus said (vs.39) 'Come and see'.

That's all He said and the two disciples joined him and never left. [They even remembered the time it all begun, the tenth hour, when they were truly touched by Him].

Let's look at Andrew who, every time he is mentioned, is always in the shadow of his brother Simon. Logic says that he probably would have felt selfish upon finding the Messiah and kept Him from Simon but he actually looked for his brother and brought him to Jesus. Simon was then named Peter. Simon (known as son of Jonah - meaning he was always unstable) had his potential noticed by Jesus and was changed to Cephas (Peter meaning rock).

Then, Jesus found Philip who went ahead to Nathaniel and tells him "we have found Him!" We often say we found Jesus, but in real sense He found us. The Lord is never lost, you don't find him but you are lost and are found. What you do find is what you have been seeking.

In verse 46 when Nathaniel asked Philip, "could anything come good from Nazareth?" Philip did not respond by agreeing or arguing with Nathaniel, he simply told him...Come and see. He had tasted Jesus, and knew what he was talking about. Verses 47-50 lead to Nathaniel undoubtedly believing that Jesus is truly the son of God. Jesus did the rest of the work, the rest of the convincing.
See, there are those who would throw logical questions at you, that would probably shake up your thinking, but, once you realize that Jesus, who you're talking about is the legit thing, nothing will shake you - for His simple touch transforms your life; and when you're not able to answer the logical questions, just tell them..Come and see.

Learn therefore that if we are called by God and confident in our choosing, it doesn't matter who led you to Jesus, or if you needed much convincing, His call will remain. All you need is to come to Jesus, respond to His calling, go and see. The rest will be sorted out.

The song I encourage you to listen to as you digest this message.
